What you can do: Sponsor our work

Donate to the Cambodia Trust

Your sponsorship could make an impact:

£5 /$8.50 /€7 a month would provide one person, per year, with a wheelchair.

£8 /$14 /€12 a month would provide one person, per year, with a prosthetic limb or orthopaedic brace.

£12 /$21 /18 a month would enable a disabled child to go to school for a year. Many families are so poor, their children cannot go to school without support.

£16 /$27 /€23 a month would provide a disabled child with one year's supply of prosthetic limbs or braces. Growing children need new limbs as often as they need new shoes.

Vandet's Story

Like most 7-year old boys, Vandet wants to be a footballer when he grows up.

Our CBR workers found Vandet in 1999. He was born with one leg and, like thousands of Cambodia’s disabled children, his disability meant that he couldn’t go to school or even play with his friends. His future was bleak.

Now, with an artificial limb and support from the Cambodia Trust, Vandet can walk, go to school and even play football. His future is looking more hopeful. But fitting a child with an artificial limb or brace is just the first step.

Like most of Cambodia's disabled people, Vandet will need support for the rest of his life. He’ll need a new artificial limb every 6 months while he’s still growing, and then every year or so as an adult.

His family, who are very poor, need support so he can go to school. And when he’s older, he’ll need skills training, to give him a better chance of competing for the few jobs available to him.

Vandet is just one of thousands of disadvantaged disabled people in Cambodia. Decades of conflict, millions of landmines, the lack of health care and terrible poverty have left around 40,000 landmine accident survivors and 50,000 people disabled by polio and other diseases. Many of these people are children.

We can’t promise Vandet that his dream of becoming a footballer will come true. We can make sure he gets an equal chance in life - but we need your help.

Please sponsor our work, and help us provide a better future for Cambodia's most vulnerable and disadvantaged disabled people.

By making a regular donation each month, you could help a child like Vandet to take his first step towards a better future.
