Cambodia Trust documentary
A short excerpt from our 28 minute documentary film.
We made this film as a way of showing people what we do, and why there is such a need for our work. The film has been shown at film festivals, on television and at fundraising events around the world, helping to raise awareness of the problems facing disabled people in Cambodia, and helping us to raise the funds we need to continue our work.
The film follows the stories of four people disabled by Cambodia's past, and the help they need to face the future: Saorim, who is affected by polio; landmine survivors Samnang and Doe; and football-mad Vandet, who was born with one leg.
It is about the work we do, providing mobility, independence and equality for the 'forgotten victims' of conflict and poverty.
And it is about hope.
The Cambodia Trust documentary was premiered in 2001 at BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), London, at a special fundraising screening. The film was subsequently selected for the One World human rights documentary film festival and the Amnesty International film festival in Hollywood.

BBC Lifeline appeal: East Timor
This is our most recent BBC television Lifeline appeal, filmed at ASSERT, our partnership project in East Timor, in March 2006 and broadcast on BBC1 and BBC2 in September 2006.
The film features the stories of 5 disabled people who are benefiting from our work in East Timor, including Mateus - a young man who lost his right leg in the 1991 massacre which brought the plight of East Timor's people to the attention of the world's media. Mateus was one of the first people to receive an artificial limb at ASSERT’s rehabilitation centre - where he now works full-time as a rehabilitation worker, helping other disabled people to regain their mobility and self-sufficiency.
BBC Lifeline appeal: Cambodia
A BBC television appeal filmed in Cambodia in 2002, presented by landmine survivor and Cambodia Trust supporter, Chris Moon MBE.
The film features several Cambodia Trust clients whose mobility, dignity and self-sufficiency have been improved through our work. The appeal raised £100,000 when it was broadcast on BBC TV.
Our grateful thanks to Jill Dawson, Stephanie Harvie, Nick Clark, Anna Ibbotson and everyone on the BBC Lifeline production team for their support of our work.
